The Academy
GAP Community’s Coaching Academy is a powerful journey designed to impart and practice the art of transformational coaching. Whether you are a professional coach, a teacher, business owner, parent, mentor, manager, or other leader in your community, the Coaching Academy will provide you with new skill, inspired perspectives and potent distinctions to equip you in championing others.
The Coaching Academy will prepare you with resources, practical knowledge and over 60 hours of guided experience, feedback, and immersive learning. While there are countless ways to develop your coaching skills, the Academy offers strength-based learning and results grounded in the core principles of transformational inquiry. We create a context in which the coaching you offer to others is not for the sake of self-improvement, rather for the sake of bringing to life that which is dormant – transforming despair into hope. You will become familiar with a style of coaching that produces sustainable results not from a formula, system, or way of doing things, rather a mastery of holding a space, standing in tension, and willingness to be fully present with another. You will practice the art of being in the deep while calling out to the deep in others.
The Coaching Academy will require you to exercise the courage to step out, challenge the status quo and inspire others to break through their current limitations to new levels of excellence, creativity and productivity.
The Academy is for individuals who are ready to make a dramatic leap in their stand for others. Graduates will become certified in a six-week coaching process that can be used for individual clients, businesses, and nonprofit organizations. The qualification offers graduates a new range of business and personal opportunities, as well as providing inspiration for new and fulfilling career and personal life paths.

By participating in the Academy, we promise you will:
Master the fundamentals of coaching. Learn to design, strategize and develop material and coaching strategies that will compel individuals to participate, excel and connect all aspects of their work and personal life.
Distinguish yourself as a dynamic coach by championing people to reinvent the way they relate to others and their circumstances. By identifying and shifting what people are “listening for” and practicing relevant focused listening skills, you will support others in developing strategies to help separate their identity from their results. New behavior and choices will appear and increase your ability to inject flexibility in conflicted situations by identifying common interests, revealing new possibilities.
Motivate and empower individuals to be responsible for their life. To be fierce in their conversations and to be curious and generous listeners. You will learn what it takes to coach individuals to receive feedback from others as information necessary to make lasting changes.
Advance your communication, presentation, and coaching skills by learning to actively identify the changes people long for yet may believe are impossible. By working on being flexible in your “way of being” you will identify your personal winning strategies and learn how to breakthrough your natural blind spots and create new life stories for yourself and others.

6-week coaching process
Sharing: Sharing is voluntary. Sharing can happen one-on-one, in small groups or with the whole group. All during the training you will have a chance to know yourself better by sharing, talking about what you are thinking, what you are learning and hearing about your own and others’ experiences. Just like in life, participation equals value! The more that you participate the more value that you experience and the more you create for others.
Small Group Exercises: You will, at different times, meet with a group of about 4-6 other participants for casual discussions or specific relational exercises.
One-on-One Interaction: In order to make progress, you may be asked to answer a number of questions, tell a story, complete sentences or take on a particular body position (like standing up). You will have an opportunity to see new solutions for the problems and issues that you struggle with and to support the other participants to do the same. Sometimes participants find this an intense or emotional experience. Please be honest about your feelings at all times.
Listening: To increase your ability to listen carefully and to discover how well you listen occasionally the Trainer will request that you close your eyes.
Interaction with the Trainer: At times you may be talking directly with the Trainer. The Trainer will challenge you to look at your life in terms of personal responsibility, to consider what prices you and others pay for your decisions, to consider where you play the “victim” and where you take responsibility for your choices. You may feel challenged, anxious and uncomfortable when looking at your life and your choices from other perspectives or working with things that you are not used to addressing.
Music: Music is an important part of the training. The music is adapted to many preferences and styles and is always thematic. You are encouraged to listen to the words as well as the tune.
Homework: During evening or meal breaks throughout the training you will be asked to complete written homework. The homework is designed to prepare and support you for the next phase of the training. It will usually take at least 30-45 minutes to complete each time.
Worship: You will discover and explore your own creative and powerful expressions of worship and have the opportunity to be involved in individual and group worship during the training.
Challenge: During the training all parts of your being will be engaged and challenged: intellectually, emotionally, physically and spiritually. You may experience thoughts, feelings or sensations that are new or unique. This is an exciting learning experience that will include a high degree of personal challenge. Your participation is your choice. Think about the opportunity to confront your struggles, fears and limitations head-on and go for it!

9 a.m. – 6 p.m. SundayBetween weekends 1 and 3, each participant will walk through the coaching process as a client.
On Weekend 3, participants will facilitate a one-hour coaching session for a potential client.
Participants can plan on one sixty-minute (in tandem with their buddy) call between Weekend 1 & 2 and again between Weekend 2 & 3 with one of our Master Trainers.
4th optional online session is available for an additional $500 for building your coaching practice.

Once your application has been approved and we have received a minimum $495 deposit, your spot will then be secured. Your remaining balance of $4,500 is due Jan 15th or you may make 2 payments of $2,250 The first payment is due Jan 15th and the second payment is due on Mar 15. All payments are non-refundable.
