John Jobs was born in 1954 in Oakland, CA, and grew up in San Lorenzo, CA in the East Bay. Passionate about music since elementary school, he played the accordion, sang in the church youth choir and taught himself to play piano and organ, performing in garage bands from the 7th grade on. In his twenties, he played the club scene throughout the Southwest, eventually moving back to the Bay Area and settling in Santa Rosa in 1976.
John came back to church at that time, along with his wife and 3 children, and was active in the adult choir & worship team. After several years of ups and downs, he went through a painful divorce in 1989, when his high school sweetheart decided to leave the marriage. He ended up having all three children live with him at one point for 2 years. During that time, John received a call from his sister one morning in August of ’91, that their parents had lost their lives as a result of a drunk driver. It was a very trying season and one that shook his faith to the core.
After 4 years of being single, God brought a very special person into his life named Jean-Marie Carson, who on the very day she prayed, “Dear God, have him ask me to marry him today or take him away”, did just that. They were married on Feb. 14th, 1993, after a 6-month engagement.
John has worked in the ceramic tile industry as an estimator and project manager since 1977, becoming at one point the Vice President of a large tile contracting firm in Sonoma County. In 2001, he answered the call to become the ordained ‘Minister of Music’ at Santa Rosa Christian Church. John has found it a blessing to pursue his passion for music including recording a CD entitled “I Will Not Be Moved”.
In addition, John has been involved in Christian Transformational work, joining his wife Jean-Marie in GAP Community. They have 4 wonderful children and 11 grandchildren. Life is abundant!
