I talk to people all over the world about purpose, about calling. It’s a human conversation, found in each one of us. Recently, I’ve had the privilege or working with a group of women coming out of sex trafficking, incarceration and addiction. The stories of the circumstances and experiences were horrific, yet one thing I noticed across the board was the strong yearning for hope, for vision, for purpose. This longing is an integral part of the human condition. It never goes away. We can numb it out, become so busy we ignore it, pretend it doesn’t matter, pretend we don’t matter – all the while the longing persists.

Ecclesiastics 3:11-12

11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end. NIV

God has put eternity in our hearts – the yearning for purpose, for meaning, for significance. We are intentional beings designed by an intentional God. Our very existence was by design – on purpose. Consider your purpose this week, why are YOU here and what is the unique gift you are here to give?
